XOLAIR® is a medication that helps people with specific food allergies. It targets IgE, an element in your body that causes allergic reactions. When you eat something you are allergic to, IgE usually triggers chemicals that cause an unpleasant reaction. XOLAIR blocks this process by grabbing the IgE in your bloodstream before it can cause trouble. This means your body will not react as strongly if you accidentally eat something you are allergic to. The medicine is given as an injection. While XOLAIR was first approved to treat asthma, the U.S. government has now cleared it to help manage food allergies.
Patients should continue avoiding foods they are allergic to during treatment and follow their usual food restrictions. XOLAIR adds extra protection, but it does not mean you can deliberately eat allergens. Regular check-up appointments include checking IgE levels and seeing how well the treatment works. Many people notice their quality of life improves as they worry less about accidental exposure to allergens.
People with food allergies who take XOLAIR have less severe allergic reactions when they accidentally eat their trigger foods. This medication provides more safety against potentially dangerous reactions. As a result, their everyday life improves because they do not have to worry as much about accidental exposure that might happen despite careful avoidance. Studies show that many patients on this treatment either have no reaction or milder responses when unknowingly eating allergens.
XOLAIR works by blocking the main pathway that causes allergic reactions. This means it can help stop negative responses from one or more foods at once. This is very helpful for people who are allergic to many foods, as they do not need separate treatments for each allergy. Having just one treatment for multiple food allergies makes life simpler.

First and foremost let me start by saying that these people did one hell of a job figuring out my sinus problems. When I first arrived there, I explained what was going on with me having excessive inflammation in the sinus…after they tested me, I found out that I was being exposed to dust mites which gave me a strong reaction. I followed the doctors guides lines in terms of cleaning my room and ever since, my sinus inflammation went away for good and now I have a healthy sinus. Thank you for everything.
My 10 year old son also has allergies and asthma and the staff makes sure that he feels well taken care of and comfortable, despite his having Autism and ADHD. He actually looks forward to going there with me, whether it be for my allergy shots or even when he needed allergy skin testing. When you’re a patient at the Allergy and Asthma clinic, you are treated as if you are the only patient they have, even when the waiting room is full. Dr. Engler has hired truly excellent staff, from the front desk people to the nurses and medical assistants. If you have allergies and/or asthma and you live on the Peninsula or even in the city, I highly recommend that you visit the Allergy and Asthma Clinic. They are truly amazing and will make you feel so much better.
